Re:CQWW DX 2018 - 2018/11/26 10:53 Hi,
Just for info, I have participated only for DXing on low bands mostly around SS/SR:

160m : 121 QSO
80m : 336 QSO.

I worked two new ones on 80m : V6A and VR2XAN now I am at 295 DXCC  on 80m.

160m was good to EU but not at its best for far DX even if some JA were workable.

80m was good, JA were workable about all our common night and I was called by several of them during my CQ's.
I heard a lot more non JA Asian stations most of them are crocodiles, easy to copy but they cannot hear NA and are working only JA: B4T,BY3GA the worst was E2A peaking at 569 but unable to hear any of the numerous NA stations calling him.

Not really needing any mult I did not call Victor avoiding to bother him with 0 points QSO...

For so few contacts my log is a checklog.

73, Gilles VA2EW

That was not easy trip at all. There was really rough 11 hours driving on a winter road both ends. Than I had two days of hard work. On Thursday I have installed a new 160m antenna - "long Inverted L" which was the only one "king of the band" during the contest. The installation required climbing on a 65' tower when the temperature was  -11C accompanied with a strong wind. )) On Friday I have installed 200m BEV to EU which was working so awesome so I have worked few QRP guys from Europe. One YO was using just 4 watts! So when I have finished my SO2R setup I've found strong interference from one radio two another due to very close antennas installation, So I could use SO2R very limited just in one bands combination. The contest went well except I've fallen to sleep on the second night and totally could work just 42 hours. Definitely that caused me few hundred QSO's and at least one place in the SOAB(A) HP category. Another one surprise I've got over there - the 20m band opening life time was much shorter vs what we have in MTL area. Both days the 20m got closed to EU right after 1-2pm. I've got some traditional NA run on Sunday afternoon. But there were not  dozens and dozens JAs as I usually work from home. What was really good - good run on 160/80. Considering 160m I made up to 1000 qso during  the contest plus before and after contest periods. Over 200 qso I've made in FT8. I'm glad to give zone 2 for some guys desperately waiting it for the WAZ award.

Re:CQWW DX 2018 - 2018/11/29 09:23 Hi Claude.

Your 160m signal was also very good. So looks like you've got a new 160m antenna. ))

Thank you for the spots during the contest!
