Very enjoyable contest this year. I did some very nice runs on 80, 40, 15m. 80m was a pleasure to work Saturday night. Many people wanting VE2 - I was running quite some large pileups. Many thanks to EZD, UTC AXO, HIT, AWR for the QSO's.

George

Victor, I was glad to work you on the first night so I didn't have to worry about QC.
Nice signal here in Beauce.

Congratulation George for your Clean Sweep.

Between two big CW contests, I didn't plan to put too much energy into this contest.
For the last two years I missed the first day of the phone Sweepstakes
because I went to an amateur astronomy activity in Boisbriand.

Since I got my first ever Clean Sweep two weeks ago in the CW Sweepstakes
I was not expecting to be able to do the same for the phone version.
So my strategy was to give QC to the most stations (giving back) and work some
new States on the bands where I needed them (WAS), mostly on 80m and 10m.

Surprisingly, I went short of a sweep missing only one section: SF.
I remembered Claude saying: passer proche... c'est pas suffisant.

I found one SF on 40m with a good signal just half an hour before the end.
I tried to break the pileup without any success. The stations that were
able to work him where mostly from the midwest (from 7, 5 and 0 areas).

This year the SSB Sweepstakes was very different from its CW counterpart.
The badly needed sections two weeks ago were easy this time.
I worked DE twice and AK three times.
VY1EI is doing a great job giving NT and I was able to work him on both Sweepstakes.

For the new Ontario sections, ONE was the most difficult to get.

One of the last american section to get was WV.
I tried to work one in a big pileup without any success
and one magically appeared on my last 80m "run".

Worth noting, I worked 11 QRP stations.
Two were on 80m and the farthests being CO and NTX.

Since QC is a needed section for many amateurs. Its heart warming when a station tells
you at the end of a QSO that it permitted him to reach a Clean Sweep.

Even if QC is "needed", on all of my runs I only got spotted on my last one on 80m
and one by a fellow VE2. The majority of the stations working the Sweepstakes
are UNASSISTED.

Hope to see you next weekend for the CQ WW DX CW.

Re:ARRL SS SSB 2012 - 2012/11/19 10:49 Salut Jean-Pierre

On l'a utiliseé au dernier Field Day ( VE2CRB ).
