Re:SS CW 2016 - 2016/11/07 11:01 Salut,

I am not at home now, can't print out the summary.

Station : .., "B", VE2QA, 09, QC

I did find about 4-5 hrs on Sunday between 12pm and 4pm to participate in ARRL SSCW.
All QSOs on 14MHz band, high power. Just plugged in my ZS6BKW dipole, only some QSOs on 3 el yagi at the end of the day when propagation started to die. Or activity, for that matter.

Total QSOs ~ 308.

The interest was to run when there are multiple callers. Maybe because VE2 is a new section for many in US, between 12:30 and till about 4 pm there was a good traffic.

I started as a warm up S&P at about 12pm, but the rate was disappointing, even with the number of running station pretty high.

Few thing seem to be special for this contest:
1. Veeeery long exchange. That does not help with the rate, and it kills in S&P.
2. Stations adding in their reply my callsign and "NR" before actual exchange. It is long as is, people .
3. Callers that call once (3 stations at the same time), then sit a long pause before calling again. Again at the same time. Hard to break up that deadlock. (maybe happens in other contests too).
4. Stations from skip zone. I can get the call sign, but with the exchange like this, it is really a waste of time.

But at the end of the day, this seems to be a very good contest if you want to practice your run skill for us in QC.

Re:SS CW 2016 - 2016/11/07 17:44 Thanks for QC Vlad, until I worked VE2AWR you were the only VE2 I heard and skip was difficult for us on 20m. Worked all the 83 sect.

Re:SS CW 2016 - 2016/11/08 11:18 Hi Claude,

Thank you for the QSO. I had only 2 stations from QC, and both were at marginal signal levels.

But the run with US stations was practically non-stop because of not so many VE stations in general. VE3 where almost impossible to copy too. VE4/VE7/VO1 were ok.
