Re:CQWW WPX CW 2008 - 2008/05/27 19:14
Thanks guys for reporting the cheeping of my keying during the WPX. The K3 is not involved, I have just received it today and it is at the state of a kit...
I have rapidly found the origin of the problem : Since January, I am using the 12V power input to supply the FT-1000 MK V instead of the 120VAC input. It seems that there is something wrong in this 12V input of the MKV and when I am transmitting, the internal voltage goes a bit down which induces the cheeping. I have gone back to the 120 VAC input and the keying is now correct.
I have a question for Victor or others that have listened to me, in order to now if the fault started during the WPX contest or if it is there from January : did you observed a correct keying on Saturday and a wrong one on Sunday ?
For the full story, I decided to use the 12V input because on 160m there is a light sweeping noice (accrochage ?) that can disturb the reception of a very low signal when the noice falls on its frequency. With the 120 VAC I cannot move it if it is on my frequency, but with the 12V I was able to move away the noice frequency by modifying a bit the power supply voltage...
