CQ WW RTTY 2009 - 2009/09/16 17:40Je me suis retiré dans ma seigneurie de St Jean de Matha pour les deux prochaines semaines. Il reste beaucoup de petites chose à faire et comme le CQ WW RTTY Contest arrive bientôt je voulais partager quelque une de mes réflexions. Évidemment, j'espère ne pas me planter comme l'an passé, HI. Cette année pour ne pas être dérangé j'ai opté pour une clôture électrifiée et quelques mines achetées dans un marché aux puces en Afghanistan, HI.Gaétane a la permission de rester à condition quelle m'apporte à manger dans le shack et vider ma toilette portative, à part ça je ne veux pas la voir (et vlan! les féministes).Comme nous pouvons faire le 48 heures, il faut penser rester éveillé pendant tout ce temps. Voici quelques conseils;
Maintenant voici les fréquences suggérées par les contest managers;
80m: 3,570– 3,600. Les JA ce retrouvent vers 3,520 – 3,525. 40m: 7,025 – 7,030, 7,045 – 7,080. Certains Américains vont à 7,100 et plus. 20m: 14,055 – 14,125 (et même plus). Les JA vers 14,112. 15m: 21,055 – 21,125 (et même plus). 10m: 28,055 – 28,125 (et même plus).
7,070 – 7,073, PSK. 14,070 – 14,072, PSK. 21,070 – 21,072, PSK.

That was part-time operation. Just tested antennas before winter season. I was really surprised by good 15 meter band openings on Saturday. Worked few EU, RA, UR, 5C, VQ9.

60 minutes running QRP FT817ND and buddistick. Antenna location not good but thought it'd be fun giving some points.

Re:CQ WW RTTY 2009 - 2009/09/28 20:45Hi all,
I'm a new member of this site since about just less than a year and it's the first time I post on a forum. I think it was time as I participated to the NAQP SSB contest in August on a team with my friend Louis VE2EZD, Alexis VE2XAA and Claudio VE2DWA. I really liked of being part of a team and I surely will want to repeat this but I don't have a lot of time. My last contests logs were all sent with the Contest group du Quebec team. I'm not a CW operator as my CW skill were not practiced at all since I first got my CW license. My station is modest:
Rig: ICOM IC-746Pro Antenna: Alpha Delta DX-Ultra RX antenna re-cut for ham bands at only 20 feet Interface: Tigertronics Signallink SL-1+ Amp: Heathkit SB-220 Phaser: MFJ-1025 (not used in this contest) I hope to add a Mosley MP-33 tribander before winter to this setup
So here's my first log summary in this site:
Start Date : 2009-09-26 CallSign Used : VE2FXL Operator(s) : VE2FXL Operator Category : SINGLE-OP Band : ALL Power : HIGH Mode : RTTY Default Exchange : 05 QC Gridsquare : FN46PC ARRL Section : QC Club/Team : Contest group du Quebec Software : N1MM Logger V9.6.3
The only contact in 80m is due to not contesting much at night because I was very tired and the 40m band was so good. I hope to have time for some other contests soon.

Re:CQ WW RTTY 2009 - 2009/09/28 20:55Bravo and welcome Luc. Heard you on 40m but we were both S&P and have not heard you calling CQ. Have been most of the time S&P this time with low power. For sure you had a nice and strong signal in Gaspésia.
Victor we are very happy to have competition on RY hio.

Luc it was nice to contact you and by all means post your stuff more often here, you'll inspire others to do the same. I crossed you often but never got a chance to call we were both S&P.

Re:CQ WW RTTY 2009 - 2009/09/29 10:13Luc,
thanks for the QSO! It was nice to work new CGQ members in a contest. I hope you will enjoy the CGQ team spirit.
Fabi,
the same thing here. I heard you many times during my S&P. Few times I tried to call you on the top of the other stations but you've gone already((((
Claude,
What antenna are you going to install on the new one tower? I guess that would be 2 el. 40 m beam? )))) Do you have any pictures already?

Re:CQ WW RTTY 2009 - 2009/09/29 12:36Hello Victor. The new tower is a Tlylon 64ft, 125ft from the house and the base is elevated 16ft compared to the house. First, this fall will have a TH-3MK4 fixe on EUrope on it. Will first try two HalfWave 40m sloping dipoles, one to USA and the other to EUrope. Will have microHam antenna switch at base of tower. Will watch results this winter and may replace the EUro dipole with a 40m beam next summer. Finally will have only fixe antennas and no more rotors... ...
No pictures yet.
