Contest Group du Quebec

Here's a suggestion - 2014/10/29 17:40 Recent discussions with members of this group and comments from many that would have liked to attend Gilles BBQ on August 28 (distance was a factor for many) lead me to make this suggestion to you all.

How about a bilingual discussion forum (not a net but just a place where we can show-up) on 80M where members of the CGQ and non-members alike can discuss mostly contesting but other topics as well? As you know, there are several frequencies on 80/75M where various nets or discussions groups squat. Some are restricted to old friends, others do a roll call and others talk about everything but contesting.

Here is my proposal:

• Let’s meet Monday to Friday at 3.780 MHz between 06:00 and 07:00AM.
• 3.780 MHz is generally free of North American stations; if the frequency is busy, we can go up a few KHz.
• The first one that gets on frequency identifies himself and specifies this is a forum started by the Contest Group du Quebec.
• No need to keep presence or tally the number of stations on the forum; no control station either..
• You show up whenever you can.

Why the morning?

Propagation is generally good for the whole province and even to the south and west of us.
Many of us are still working but can show up early, at least for a few minutes; others are quite radio-active in the morning.
It is easier to acquire and retain a frequency (by continuous presence) in the morning.

So please answer theses 3 questions by replying to this post:
1. Do you want to participate in such a forum?
2. Do you prefer an AM or evening session and if so, in what time frame?
3. If not, what do you suggest?

If there is a majority that goes for it, I will start warming-up the frequency.
