Bell ADSL2 Be carefull! 160m inteference issue.. - 2009/12/11 16:29 Just to let you all know.

The Bell company is upgrading all custom ADSL lines across Canada to ADSL2 now. Our Internet connection recently has been upgraded too. That works fine - the bandwidth has been upgraded up to 5.5 Mbps from 3 Mbps.. Except one thing.. Now when I tx-ing on 160m even with 10 watts my Internet connection is getting frozen))) It's released in few seconds after transmitting finished.

I found the technical specification on ADSL2 and found that ADSL2 is using bandwidth of 2 MHz and my transmission on 1.800 - 2.000 MHz easily interferes with ADSL2 traffic over junk copper wire Bell usually use. Any "shaman dances" around kilograms of ferrite and RFI filters just simply doesn't work.

And I believe when I use HP on 160 m ( I can get up to 700 watts) any Bell ADSL2 modem around will be frozen..

I'm going to report about that problem to RAC and Industry of Canada.. I'm trying to find out how can I switch to Videotron's cable.. Looks like it's better protected from RFI.

But what can I do else? Any ideas?

Re:Bell ADSL2 Be carefull! 160m inteference issue.. - 2009/12/11 16:55 I already have this problem even when on 80 or 160m.
Sometimes on 40m.
The modem is: D-Link ADSL2+  (DSL2-300G)
That's why I never use the Cluster ha ha!

Re:Bell ADSL2 Be carefull! 160m inteference issue.. - 2009/12/11 17:32 Claude,

Thanks for your feedback. It's OK for me. Sometimes I work with cluster as Assisted sometimes I don't. But all other family members and probably neighbors are suffering Internet traffic blackouts that time (((

I have contacted Videotron. They are providing coaxial cable which is much reliable to RFI. Probably I'm going to switch there.

Re:Bell ADSL2 Be carefull! 160m inteference issue..

I have not made an extensive search, but you could try different keywords on:

http://lists.contesting.com/archives//html/Topband/

It is the Top band refector archives.
