Mostly testing the new software, Rick N2AMG worked to the last minute and N1MM+ worked just great without a single trouble. Some tuning on colors and the bandmap
and all will be just perfect. The new window to send or repeat msgs is just perfect,
looks a little like the one we were using on TTY

Bonne semaine

Re:WAE CW 2014 - 2014/08/11 15:00 Call: VA2EW
Operator(s): VA2EW
Station: VA2EW

Class: Single Op HP
QTH: Montreal QC
Operating Time (hrs): 34

Summary:
Band  QSOs  QTCs  Mults
-------------------------
  80:   82    10    22
  40:  378   349    36
  20:  692   760    43

Total: 1787  1758   364  Total Score = 1,288,560

Club: Contest Group du Quebec

Overall bad propagation, 10m closed, 80m noisy, much QRN with several local (Mont tremblant) and remote electric storms. 40 et 15m were good even if often the bands were closing for 5 to 10 long minutes.

I am not used with this contest and I made a lot of errors starting for example by re-starting activity after a 56 minutes break to fix an issue on a new computer under evaluation. If I had wait 4 more minutes, this break would have counted as a rest period and I could have worked one more hour into the limited 36 hours time.

I am very surprised to learn by Claude that until now N1MM had no special window to send/receive QTC`s. On Win-test it works very well for years.
BTW, There is a new release (4.13) of Wintest, I guess it was released for the WRTC.

Just a word about the new computer: it is the ASUS VM-40, a 7X7X2 inches Win 8.1 flat box fitting under the screen. Goodbye the monster XP tower with its noisy fans.
Of course it needs some time to re-organize WIN 8.1 to have it looking as XP but at the end there are few differences except discretion (size and silence) and speed. A funny thing: for some reasons Windows 8.1 cannot authorize the use of the most used and practical MP3 codec by third party applications. After some searches on internet, to fix that you only have to change 4 letter ``a```by 4 letter ''p'' in the register base...

Thanks to the VE2`s who did not call me during the contest...

See you at the CGQ BBQ

Re:WAE CW 2014 - 2014/08/12 09:40 Gilles,

Good effort! Sure an operator should take care about breaks. Sometimes works simple "time" adjustment on both ends of your break. So +/- 2 minutes for QSOs right befor and right after will give you needed 4 minutes ))) But I'm not sure if that's a fair trick ))

N1MM use the bottom part of the logging window for QTC. I found it's very comfortable since I can see all the QTC for a particular station entered to VFO A or B window. So for example if DL1A asking me for QTC and I type the call into the VFO window I see all the QTCs have been sent before. And I see all the current QTCs one by another right after every one have been confirmed.
