Re:IARU HF 2008 - 2008/05/29 21:43 Ok Gilles, you got the job for 160m, dont know how will be propagation in july but anyway I think you have one of the best sys for that band. Would be interesting to test software linking via Internet. My first experience was only with two laptop linked together last IOTA with JP and it was really fun. Yes we could exchange msgs in the info window.

In my case I wont have Internet available since portable. Let's just hope I can
run HP. Thinking about another amp. since my L4B only run on 220.

We will talk band/opr. next week if possible.

Re:IARU HF 2008 - 2008/05/29 21:50 K1TTT just wrote about N1MM

It works fine in a home network and can connect to share logs over the
internet. If you want to 'control' it, as in use the local computer running
n1mm from somewhere else, you need to use one of the remote desktop
programs.

Re:IARU HF 2008 - 2008/05/29 22:01 tnx Phil for the info about Writelog.

CLAUDE : there is a BIG PROBLEM with the rules :

''4.3.2. All stations involved in an HQ operation must be in a single ITU zone.''

According to my DXATLAS map, the Quebec is splitted in two parts by the ITU zones : Claude you are in ITU zone 9 and at Montreal we are in ITU zone 4.

Re:IARU HF 2008 - 2008/05/29 22:04 Sorry Phil, I was not meaning Writelog but Wintest.

I think that TM0HQ was working with Wintest in this configuration during previous years.

Re:IARU HF 2008 - 2008/05/29 22:22 Yes Gilles, that's why I will be operating portable probably from Rivière Ouelle or Ile d'orléan.

Sure. Lot of us are using N1MM. Me too. So we could try to link each other over the Internet. That's easy. Just needs some specific settings to be applied to a router and to a Windows Firewall (or another one kind of AntiVirus applications if runs one on a PC).

Remote desktop is something else and that's not good for us.

Re:IARU HF 2008 - 2008/05/30 17:44 Some thaughts

SSB needs big power. So, If possible, LP station should do CW only. But its not mandatory.

I dont care doing CW and or SSB. Keep in mind my station just isnt competitve for SSB.

Maybe 20 to Alex, 40 to Victor, 80 CW Claude 80 SSB Claudio (?) 160 to Gilles. I could try 15.

Just putting out ideas.

If everything goes right, I should meet Claudio and Gary tomorrow night. I'll talk em about it.

I am logging from my hotel in Gatineau. Free networking here.

For the network, I will try to restore my station computer which is as modern as steam locomotives...

Re:IARU HF 2008 - 2008/06/05 10:45 Claude,

That could be nice if someone else could take 40SSB so we can work in the same time on the band both modes CW and SSB. 40 and 20 meters bands results are the most effective. Anyway if we wouldn't have anyone for 40SSB I can take that by myself as well as 40CW.

Re:IARU HF 2008 - 2008/06/05 15:38 Yes Victor, 20 and 40m will sure be the most important bands and if possible we should have full time operators on those two band. Fabi may take 20m/SSB
and 40m still available. Will have to check the sked day before the contest.
