Re:IARU HF 2008 - 2008/07/09 13:27 I have one idea.

What do you think if we could work our own callsigns during some breaks of VA2RAC?

For example if I'm working as VA2RAC on 40 CW could I make a few contacts on 10m band as VA2WDQ during day time?

Can I do that? And if I can do that - could I work VA2RAC stations to give points?

Re:IARU HF 2008 - 2008/07/09 13:39 No you would break this rule:

Valid Contact:
6.1. The same station may be worked once per mode per band for QSO credit.
6.1.1. Mixed-mode entries may work a station once per mode per band.
6.2. A station may only be worked for credit in the portion of the band that is generally accepted for the mode used.
6.2.1. On any band, a station may be worked once on Phone (in the Phone segment) and once on CW (in the CW segment).
6.2.2. Cross mode, cross band and repeater contacts are not valid QSOs.
6.3. Where contest-preferred segments are incorporated into regional band plans, participants must observe them.
6.4. The use of non-amateur radio means of communications (e.g. telephone or the Internet) for the purpose of soliciting a contact (or contacts) during the contest period is inconsistent with the spirit and intent of these rules.
6.5. Use of self-spotting techniques on packet or other mediums are inconsistent with the spirit and intent of these rules.

I don't think we can do this. We participate as VA2RAC. Anyway, we being HQ station, we should be busy enough not to do this.

Re:IARU HF 2008 - 2008/07/09 20:14 Victor,

I have a SB-200 and I've borrowed a Ten-Tec Titan for the contest, I could run 1.5 KW in any band, but as my antennas are close each other if I run more than 200 or 300 watts in 80 I couldn"t operate 40, I'm finising some stub trying to solve the problem, my idea is run high power in 40 most of the time and 400 watts in 10, 80 and 160, but during the dark hours and sunset/sunrise  I'm planning to move the big amp to 80 and 160 as this will be necessary.

We'll be QRV in msn under my ve2dwa@hotmail.com account.

Ready for lot of fun @ VE2DWA during IARU ,

Re:IARU HF 2008 - 2008/07/10 10:04 It is a good idea to use this page billboard to everyone and MSN or ICQ pages like a spare communication channels. 73! Alexey VE2XAA

Re:IARU HF 2008 - 2008/07/10 11:38 Today I could change my schedule for the weekend and I'll be at home operating VA2RAC, therefore @ VE2DWA will be 4 operators to cover the 4 bands for all the 24 hours.

About Victor's question on make QSO with his own call, it is valid, the rules doesn't say anything against this.

We keep in touch

Re:IARU HF 2008 - 2008/07/10 23:22 Hi guys,
I see everybody is getting ready nice to see the excitement.
I find the billboard working vy fine and should be ok, only one thing:

6.4. The use of non-amateur radio means of communications (e.g. telephone or the Internet) for the purpose of soliciting a contact (or contacts) during the contest period is inconsistent with the spirit and intent of these rules.
What do you think of this rule?? Does this in any way come in conflict with the use of the billboard?

Another thing what header category should we use for the cabrillo: SOSB and then HQ? It takes a primary category...
Ok will read you tomorrow, GN
