Invitation to join VE2RWT ROOM WIRES-X - 2026/05/11 10:39
Hello,
This is an invitation to all members of the Quebec Contest Group to join a ROOM on the YAESU WIRES-X platform.
The goal is to create a connection for all group members to communicate and talk together without having to rely on complex RF links.
The equipment required is simple: a Yaesu mobile or Yaesu digital handheld radio that (important) supports PDN mode operation, along with an interface cable connected to a PC.
(Note: some older interface cables do not support Windows 11.)
Examples:
FTM-200DR, FTM-300DR, FTM-500DR, FTM-510DR, and some older models may still support PDN/WIRES-X
FT2DR, FT3D, FT-5DR with interface cable to PC and Yaesu WIRES-X software v2.01
This setup allows communication between everyone connected to the ROOM without even transmitting RF. The PDN mode allows the radio to operate either as a relay (hotspot) or in direct mode.
At the moment, VE2RWT-ROOM is active and available. Simple text messaging is also available on the platform.
My equipment:
VE2RWT-ROOM: FTM-200DR, HRI-200, Mini PC (ACEPC Win 10 PRO), Antenna: Discone
Frequency: 442.750
VE2CWT-ND: PDN mode, SCU-56 cable, Desktop PC (direct mode, or Frequency 447.750)
The more people who join, the more interesting it will become.
