Hello everyone.
I just became a new member and thanks Gilles for all your help.

This is the first time I seriously participated in a contest.
My principal goal was to add to my DXCC but it turned out to be great fun.
I am glad I installed the roofing filter mods on my radio.
Now I plan to make more improvements to the equipment for the next contest.
First time also using N1MM logger.

I also had problems with SWR on 40m because of the wet snow.
I noticed this after the tuning settings did not match the values I had in my chart.
I had to constantly readjust the matchbox and liner controls.
15m was incredible but 10m was disappointing after showing signs of life lately.

Re:CQWW SSB 2010 - 2010/11/01 19:02 Hello,
Thank you for the welcome!
I have to thank Gilles VE2TZT for introducing me to this website.
I was licensed in 2008 and I am new to operating but not new to Ham Radio or RF & electronics.
It seems that you guys have a very nice and interesting website here.

I am seriously planning to learn CW this coming year since I found that it is so much better for HF DX than SSB.
I do work some digital, PSK31 and RTTY, but I prefer speaking into the mic (and hopefully using the key) than to type on a keyboard since I am on the computer most of the day.

Question: How can I post some photos of my station and antennas on this site?

Re:CQWW SSB 2010 - 2010/11/01 20:02 I am very glad to see you George comming in this group.

George is indeed learning ham radio very fast, he has already organised the 2010 Field day of his Club (WIARC) and for the second year managed to make FM and SSB satellite contacts during the Fieldday with his own station.

Now he is comming to DX and logically to contest

Welcome George in this group.

Re:CQWW SSB 2010 - 2010/11/01 21:05 I did manage to pass by the station and found a microphone. I am glad I did for many reasons. I finally found a bunch of stations that are far more deaf than mine ha ha! The guys are coming in 20-25 dbs and they can't hear squat and I mean ZIP, NADA, NIET, RIEN PANTOUTE! Makes me feel better. Sure ssb takes up a lot of room on the band. Like I was saying it was a good experience even if only a couple of hours of operation but I did listen in for a bit more time. Boy some guys sure talk fast in there, if I tryied anything like it I'd need the services of my osteopath the following day.

Warm welcome to George!! Great to have you!!

Now it's time to shrink the filters here and get the station ready for the master of masters in 12 days ha ha!!

Question: comment était 80M vendredi soir?

Re:CQWW SSB 2010 - 2010/11/01 21:29 I really am jealous of you guys on CW!
I promised to myself that I WILL learn the code!

After 19 hours of listening to noise my ears needed 24 hours rest!
Also I agree that many operators speak much too fast.
The problem is that many operators use WAV recordings for their announcements and they just do not adjust and properly check the audio quality from the computer going into the radio and also they don't realize how fast they are calling especially if they have a foreign accent.
Many times I could not make out the call-sign so I just answered the CQ. Once the operator got on with his own voice I asked for his call after giving my report.
I prefer to use my own voice since I adjust the modulation properly before going on the air.

Does anyone have Victor's e-mail address?

Ok I thought  this might be a good time to give you an update on the NOEL POULIN AWARD. Still lots of contests to come and many things can happen.

Thanks for QSO with Alexey on 80m with an always excellent signal and audio.

73 à tous
