Russian DX Contest 2011 - 2011/03/16 16:47 The Russian DX Contest will start up on next Saturday (March 19, 2011) at 12 UTC (8 AM EST). The rules are here: http://www.rdxc.org/asp/pages/rulesg.asp The main change that is all logs should be send withing 2 weeks only! This contest score counts for the WRTC-2014!

What do you think if we create a CGQ team? Who would like to join? We need at least 5 members. I try to work as much as possible as SOAB CW only. So we need at least 4 or more. There is no limits on team members number.

Re:Russian DX Contest 2011 - 2011/03/20 12:44 Yes bravo Victor!

Unfortunately, the Russian DX contest made the QRP calling freq on 20 totally unusable and therfore made a renowned QRP club monthly meeting impossible on 20.

As 30 was so so, this gives me bad opinion of contesters in general..

Hi all, it was just a S&P contest for me and I was relax too and doing some tests. Well, I know I have some CW even if my code learning is really not there anymore but I'm using a freeware CW Decoder, it's really good most of the time especially with automated keyer like with CW operator in contests. So I don't know if it counts for the trophy or not. In my point of view, I see that as another digital mode like RTTY which needs a decoder and encoder like i'm doing in CW for now. I heard Victor for the first time and also Alexey but not enough strong for working them. Congrats Victor, really impressive.

Re:Russian DX Contest 2011 - 2011/03/21 14:50 Bravo Alex and Victor

During this RuDX, I have just made a few qso's to take advantage of 15m North opening at sun set and get a few new ones DX , plus 30 mn of run on 160m just to test something.
I have remarqued in that short period of time that some operators who do not listen enough but are using the cluster spots are confusing beetween VA2WA and VA2EW callsigns. I expect that by the time, the community will learn to pay attention to those close spelling new ``comers`` callsigns.

By the way I received this WE the confirmation from ARRL that my 5 bands DXCC + 4 bands endorcements which makes the 9 bands DXCC have been validated.

I was believing that it is not a big deal untill I realised, looking at the ARRL standings, that it is the first 9 bands DXCC validated by ARRL in the Ham radio Québec history and it has been entirely done during the past 6 years which is the lowest and longuest sun minimum activity period of the ham radio history...

What can we think of those who are saying that solar minimum are bad for radio ???

At this date, there are only 3X160m DXCC achieved in Quebec :
VE2FYR, VA2WDQ and VE2TZT. I then guess that Victor will be soon the next one to achieve a 9 bands DXCC in Québec.

Do not miss that point, CQ magazine and ARRL awards are a form of competition the difference with contest, is that this competion is lasting 48 years instead of 48 hours...
