Encore pas d'antennes pour le 160m, juste
le dipole 80 + Tuner. Conditions extraordinaires,
j'entendais bcp de DX et personne pour leurs répondre.
Vic et Gilles avaient des signaux très forts.

The top band conditions were the worst I could remember. My setup still far from the best even I did few improvements. Still 3-6 dB behind Gilles (hi..hi..).

The new 260m beverage RX antenna to EU works great. So I could hear almost everything in EU direction up to UA9. But the problem that they barely hear me ))) I hope that was just because of really bad conditions. Looks like the 160m is very popular in QC today. Worked many VE2's !! Worked 2 new CQ zones and 4 new DXCC: HK,CX, 4L, 7Z. There were not any VK/ZL/JA for me in this contest.

On my side, I found that the conditions were not perfect but pretty good : it is my second best score the first beeing 1.1 M in that eceptionnal 2009 year when I worked 70 countries. The mid-distance propagation was correct but the long distance (above 10000 km) were not existing so, no VK or ZL. A very nice and long opening to Europe on second night from 5 to 7 TU.
Congratulation Victor for your 7Z, I found it in S&P,called 5 or 10 times and thinking that I had already 7Z as a 160m DXCC I did not want to waste too much contesting time in that mess. Too bad, checking my DXCC I am missing it...
The same way, I did not try to listen to you to compare RX on Europe. That both examples are showing that during a serious contest I am really focussed on the result, perhaps too much.
Congratulation to VE2SG too for his potential 160m WAS.

I have changed my tactic but I do not think that it will give me such a rank improvement.
His station must have had a problem. Hope for him that it was not related to the last freezing rain in Ontario.

Re:CQ 160M CW 2014 - 2014/01/30 20:45 Bon opération très partiel car des sorties extérieures les 2 soirs alors seulement fait apparition entre 3 et 7 hrs utc. Oui assez rare de faire EU entre 6-7 utc avec le flux vers 145 en zone 15 et surement un 4-square. Non pas de 7Z sur 160m

Ici pas de place pour beverage alors K9AY avec preamp, bon cela va partir en 2014 et retour avec loop shield (gros coax) avec transfo d'isolation entre sortie et preamp. Donc proche de la circonférence .07.

It is my first one in a major contest.
For the records, as I only consider the SO HP NON ASSISTED category, were we have the best competitors, it barrelly happens sometimes.

You will remark the special meaning of this plate won at a few kms from the last home of VE2XAA and brought to CGQ area which is still missing Alexey .
