Re:CQWPX CW 2020 - 2020/06/01 21:59
Call: CF2T Operator(s): VA2EW Station: VA2EW
Class: SOAB HP Operating Time (hrs): 35H30 Band QSOs 160: 13 80: 167 40: 1417 20: 1551 15: 259 10: 3 Total:3410 Prefixes: 1045 Total Score 12,677,940
It is good sometimes to do a contest in HP, way less people starting a run on your frequency and a respectable distance on the filter borders is frequent.
Impressive 40m the first night, I did not even had to go on 80, the first 5 hours were around 140/h. Note that a WPX QSO is significanly more time consuming with the 4 digits serial numbers than a CQ WW DX QSO. So the rates are higher at the beginning when numbers are short and people are asking less repeats but with the time passing, the numbers are getting more complex and the operators more tired things are becoming slower and slower.
For the records I messed up with my rest time calculation and was obliged to stop a full hour Sunday afternoon rather than only 26 minutes so the 35H30 of operating time. I have prefered loosing a full extra 30minutes of low rate low pointers daylight afternoon QSO's rather than the last 30 minutes of contest with higher rates, jucious 40m high pointers and frequent last minute multipliers coming.
Anyway my best ever score in mono op. The rough score is even higher with only 35.30 h of operating than our 2019 rough score in M/S with 3 operators operating a full 48h...
BTW Sunday PM there were some European countries comming in with big signals on 10m. Too bad it was not time for me to try the 6m.
Who said bad propagation ?
Thank for the calls.
73, Gilles VA2EW
