Alors que le temps des vacances est encore là pour plusieurs d'entre nous, d'autres s'affèrent à préparer leur station pour les contests radio de l'automne-hiver 2008-2009.
Cycle 24 nous a montré 2 spots à date et cycle 23 se meurt tranquillement. Encore un peu de patience et nous verrons d'ici 1 an une certaine amélioration dans les conditions de propagation radio. Avec un nombre grandissant de membres dans le groupe il est parfois interéssant de savoir quelles stratégies chacun pense adopter pour affronter les différents concors à venir. Sachez que bien que bénéfique pour notre hobby, le sunspot maximum produit bien souvent des effets indésirables:

On my side some modifications are under way at the station to compete with the growing contest crowd. The radios are still Icom 756 Pro's, the tuners are now Palstar AT-Auto with the addition of Palstar AT4K for radio 2. A second Alpha 89 has just arrived to give radio 2 a bit more punch (and reliability). In the antenna field the 40M dipole is now up to 72 feet as compared to the previous 60'. A second perpendicular 90 degree dipole at 68 feet gives me more direction control. 10M addition of 4 element OWA Yagi at 55 feet to EU and MX10 at 50 feet to US. On 15M addition of MX15 at 52' fixed to the US.
